VENDETTA ITALIAN RESTAURANT

Artist's Statement

As they say, V is for Vendetta. This was an identity and branding project for a long-time friend of mine, Kousuke Hirose. He is the former captain (Owner / Bar Tender) of Bar Ship in Fujisawa, Kanagawa. After he closed down his bar, he had a rough stint of years working for the Yakuza in the restaurant industry as a chef. He focused on Italian cuisine.

He needed revenge — and the best revenge is success. Vendetta was a match for where Kousuke was in his life at this time. So Vendetta Itallian Restaurant and Drink Bar it was. The 2D flat graphic was designed to clearly depict the colors of the Italian flag, while at the same time, reveal the V for Vendetta initial in the negative space between. It was simple, clean, and effective at communicating who Kousuke was, and what his new business venture was all about.

Kousuke also informed us that he wanted to focus on wine parings with his food, so a sub-graphic of an ever emtying wine glass over time, good eats, and conversation was added to the overall logo design. GO KOUSUKE!!!　頑張ってください！！！
