Artist's Statement

Flashback to the lockdowns of 2020 and the great toilet paper shortage. The only things growing at the time were the spread of the virus and Amazon — I am sure there is some irony in that statement somewhere.

Business was slow and boredom was high. I decided to make a logo for my old Alma Mater, the owls of Temple University. The owl is our mascot, and Hooter the Owl is part of Temple's Spirit Squad.

The letter 8 was used because H is the eighth letter of the alphabet. Cherry red and white are the school colors. Using the eight, a 3D graphic logo was designed to represent the image of old Hooter. Accompanying mock-up was then made as a proof of concept.
