THE LAST OUTPOST

Artist's Statement

The Last Outpost is a retail brand created for Gap Inc. Their identity and graphics center arount two themes: the American Wild West and Space Cowboy. This fusion brings together both the images of the badass Americano gun slinger featured in the popular Western film genre of the 60s and flash-backs of the neo-noir Japanese Space Western anime drama of the 90s — AKA Cowboy Bebop.

The brand concept focusses mainly on color variety. The color palettes are created from various scenes taken from the American Southwest and deep space metropololistic city scapes. Color schemes come out seasonaly and only one set at a time to create scarcity and buzz.

Rest assured, all of the cows have been branded after they have seen the light of the lord almighty, as to maintain with the standards of minimal animal cruelty. These leather goods such as jean tags, jackets, wallets, and bags — are all branded with the logo using real cattle branding irons. Designs are both traditional rural western and urban futuristic, which cater to people of all walks of life.
