Artist's Statement
Saudi Aramco's core values are safety, citizenship, integrity, accountability, and excellence. And it shows. In 2023 they posted their second highest ever net income of $121.3 billion, and shareholders saw a 30% increase that year in total dividend equity. They are a force to be reckoned with, and so is their design team.
I must have stared at their logo for the better part of an hour just thinking. Being a multinational corporation, it was not hard to find its implementation: worldwide they have 14 offices, 11 global research centers, and 15 refining plants.
What stood out was its versatility. I could see that it had been designed with three shapes in mind: the circle, square, and rectangle. That is when I got an idea. I decided to come up with an abstract shape based on the border of Saudi Arabia. I then masked their current logo with this new shape to add to its versatility.
With Aramco's main focus on international business, it is possible that this new Saudi border abstract could be utilized for internal Saudi communications. It is also possible for this particular branding to cover only a certain sector of Aramco, such as Aramco Digital.
