MIYUMI BUBBLE TEA

Artist's Statement

*PROOF OF CONCEPT* Miyumi brand is a concept bubble tea company designed for the Coca-Cola Company, which is a fusion of both Japanese and Italian cultures in one design drink label. The polka dots are prevalent in the design and have been a cultural representation of Italian fashion for many years. They equally match the bubbles in the tea itself, thus adding to the image and overall Italian identity of the brand.

For the Japanese identity element, the typography was chosen. Two separate playful Japanese typefaces were chosen, which use a combination of kanji, hiragana, and katakana characters to describe the flavor contents inside.

For the images, fruits were taken and arranged on a color-matching background paper. Digital photography was then used to capture the images. Additional sub-text can easily be added in any language around the world to further explain the contents and flavor.

The overall aesthetic is one of an Italio-Japanesy cultural fusion mix utilizing the bright, warm, vibrant fruit colors themselves to accentuate the seasonal fruity fresh flavors of the bubble tea itself.
